(A)sexual: A Documentary

Facing a sex obsessed culture, a mountain of stereotypes and misconceptions, and lack of social or scientific research, asexuals, people who experience no secual attraction - struggle to claim their identity.  Post film discussion by asexuality expert, Aasha Foster, MA and colleagues.

How to Survive a Plague
Wednesday, March 13th, 5pm

Reception immediately following at 8pm
The story of two coalitions --ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group) -- whose activiism and innovation truned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition.  Post film discussion by the 2013 Oscar Nominated director/writer David France and HIV expert, Dr. Perry Halkitis.
This screening is co-sponsored by the Workgroup for Sexuality, Women, and Gender in Education and Psychology and the Vice President's Office for Diversity and Community Affairs.

Monday, April 15th, 5pm

An indictment of closeted politicians who lobby for anti-gay legislation in the U.S.  Post film discussion TBD.

Dangerous Living
Monday, May 6th, 5pm

A documentary presenting the realities of coming out in developing nations.  Post film discussion on the experiences of South Asian LGB people by Dr. Riddhi Sandil and colleagues.

*These screenings are open to the community and are a supplementary part of the LGBT(Q) Issues in Psychology and Education course house in Counseling and Clinical Psychology.
