biographical information

Dr. Veyvoda received her Ph.D. at Teachers College in the Spring of 2013.  She has instructed HBSE 4073 since her second year as a doctoral student.  Dr. Veyvoda continues to enjoy teaching in this department, bringing both current research and her clinical experiences to her students.  A practicing speech-language pathologist, Dr. Veyvoda conducted her dissertation research on the skill set of speech-language pathologists working with profoundly deaf students, and had the opportunity to collect data at many of New York State's schools for the Deaf.  Clinically, Dr. Veyvoda has worked at schools for the Deaf, in private practice, and with both auditory-oral and signing deaf and hard of hearing children through early intervention and local school districts.  She enjoys bringing a multi-sensory approach to communication development, and her course focuses on using auditory, visual, and tactile strategies to teach deaf and hard of hearing children to communicate effectively.  Dr. Veyvoda is a member of the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, and is certified as a speech-language pathologist and Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities in New York State.
