Software Licences

Software licenses

Software, either license code or disk as applicable, can be obtained in the Academic Computing Office in 234HM. In some cases, the software may be available via download from our “Software and Tools” site under the “TC Bookmarks” section of MyTC.

License agreements for the College take several different forms:

Faculty and staff home use:

  • Microsoft Campus license includes MS Office, MS Project, Windows upgrades (must already own a license for an operating system, any version – Mac OS counts for machines which need Windows for Bootcamp or Parallels)
  • NVivo
  • Matlab with a wide variety of toolboxes
  • SPSS
  • Endnote bibliographic software
  • McAfee virus protection for Windows and Mac

Student Home Use:

  • Endnote bibliographic software
  • NVivo qualitative analysis software
  • Matlab with a variety of toolboxes
  • McAfee virus protection for Windows and Mac
  • For MST students only, you have access to the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance, which provides free access to most of the Microsoft programs including servers and programming languages as well as application suites

College Machines: Concurrent licenses metered by Keyserver

Note: these programs can be loaded on all machine on the College network, but only a set number can run at a particular moment. If that threshold is exceeded, the user will get a warning message directing them to try later when a license is freed up.

  • Adobe Creative Suite: Design Premium (with Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash Professional, DreamWeaver, and Fireworks)
  • ARC GIS.

Individual Volume Licenses

The College owns a wide variety of software with licensing ranging from a few copies to several hundred. Check with the Academic Computing office to see if the software you are looking for is owned by the College. Commonly requested programs which we are licensed for include:
