Scholarship Awards 2008-2009

2008 – 2009 Program in Health Education Scholarship Awards

Purpose: TC Scholarship Awards made through the Program in Health Education are used to support both new and continuing students in completing their program of graduate study. The awards are specifically intended to recognize outstanding academic performance and promise as a future leader either in research or practice in the field of health education.

Eligibility: All newly admitted and continuing students pursuing a M.A., M.S., or Ed.D. degree are eligible to be considered for a scholarship award for the 2008-09 academic year.

Application process: All new incoming students are automatically considered for an award. Continuing students interested in being considered for a scholarship award must submit an application consisting of the following elements:

�� One-page cover letter of interest, including name, address, telephone number and email address

�� Two-page curriculum vitae or resume, including education, professional employment history, honors and awards, membership in professional associations, publications, abstracts of conference presentations, and other significant achievements

�� A 650-word written statement explaining your current academic interests, how you see your work in the future, and how you see the award benefiting your progress and professional development as a leader in research or practice

Selection criteria: All applications are reviewed and rated by the program faculty on the following criteria:

�� Strength of previous academic record, including prior graduate study at TC or elsewhere

�� Amount of any TC scholarship awards received in prior year(s)

�� Relevance of prior professional experience

�� Quality of written statement

�� Extraordinary circumstances or compelling financial need

Application deadline: 5:00 PM, April 10, 2008

Notification: Students selected for awards will be notified by May 1, 2008
