Center for International Art Education, Inc.
In 2001 the Art and Art Education Program established the Center for International Art Education, Inc. (CIAE). This Center is designed to serve the growing need for art educators across the globe to strengthen the lines of communication that confirm the significant role of art in education. The Directors of the CIAE are Judith Burton, Prabha Sahasrabudhe, Graeme Sullivan, Sharon Dunn and Carol Fineberg. The first major initiative undertaken by the CIAE was to co-ordinate the planning of the 31st InSEA World Congress to be held in New York, August 19 - 24, 2002.International Conversations through Art
InSEA 31st World Congress
The InSEA 31st World Congress will be held in New York City, United States of America, from 19th to 24th of August 2002.
The International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) was founded in 1954. The mission of InSEA reflects a commitment to a belief that education through art is a means of individual learning that fosters the values and disciplines essential to living. InSEA seeks, on a worldwide basis, to share experiences, improve practices and strengthen the position of art in relation to all of education and the cultural life of communities.
The World Congress is dedicated to realizing InSEA's promise of international understanding by Education through Art. The Congress will provide presentations and exhibitions in celebration of a diversity of approaches and multiplicity of voices in art education. It will create an environment where regional areas, nation states and world communities can present visions of art education, grounded in their cultural history and open to worldview.
