Internship ◊ Intro

Internship takes place after an approved disseration proposal.  CCPJ 6460 Internship (Year Long) (0-6 credits).

Doctoral students spend the fifth or sixth year at an internship site, which may be a college counseling enter, rehabilitation institute, hospital or a combination of these sites.  The purpose of the internship year is to give preliminary professional experience under close supervision with increasing responsibility.  A large percentage of students choose internships that are accredited by the APA, which is our strong recommendation.  Other settings must be approved by the faculty if the most desirable experience is not available in an accredited site.  Students must petition the Program faculty and be approved to apply for internship.  To be approved, a student must be in good academic standing and have an approved disseration proposal before the faculty will allow application for internship.

While engaged in a full-time internship to fulfill Doctoral requirements, students are required to register for CCPJ 6460: Internship in Counseling Psychology.
