Practice Rooms

There are 10 practice rooms in the Music department at Teachers College, each equipped with a Steinway upright piano. Columbia University Musicians may rent a practice room key to a practice room for up to 7 hours of reserved time per week. All unscheduled time is used by the key holders on a first-come, first serve basis.

To rent a practice room, bring your validated Columbia ID to 520-A Horace Mann during business hours. You will fill out two forms, which you will take to the Bursar's office (located on the first floor of Thompson Hall). You will then be able to select your hours after you bring your paid stamped forms to the Music Office, 520A Horace Mann. You must be affiliated with Columbia University to rent our practice rooms. 

Practice room keys are let out for $50 per semester fee, plus a $50 key deposit (totaling $100). The key deposit is refunded upon the timely return of the practice room key, last day of courses each semester. You will be informed of the deadline for returning the key at the time of your rental.

Practice rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. They are closed on school holidays. If you find them closed at a time when school is in session, you may call TC security at x3334 to request that the hallway be unlocked.  Use the hall phone near the water fountain on the 5th floor of Horace Mann.
