The Program : Artists, Executives and Scholars in Residence

The thinker
The Artists, Executives and Scholars in Residence Program, launched in 1997, brings a highly regarded expert to Teachers College to spend time with the students, faculty and alumni of the Program in Arts Administration and the greater college community. It provides the following benefits:
  • Strengthens cross-disciplinary inquiry by both faculty and students
  • Brings contemporary cultural practice to the department
  • Provides role models for future practitioners
  • Creates a forum for joint investigation of cultures and practices
  • Provides a basis for discussions of art, aesthetics and ethics to take place across and within individual disciplines
  • Helps to conceptualize potential projects and collaborations within the University community and within the field

Past recipients include Mark Schuster, Professor of Urban Cultural Policy at MIT, and Steven Weil, Deputy Director of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
