The Department of Biobehavioral Sciences offers programs that derive educational and clinical applications from an understanding of the biological processes underlying human communication, movement, and their disorders. An understanding of the normal bio-behavioral processes is applied to clinical practice. The scientific knowledge obtained from studying each of these specialized fields is used to enhance the educational, adaptive, and communicative capabilities of individuals with normal and impaired abilities across the lifespan.  John H Saxman, Ph.D., Professor of Speech Language Pathology, is Chair of the Department. Talks on Linguistics in honor of Neil Smith's retirement

Dr. Karen Froud presented about "Schizophrenia as a disorder of thought, or language? Evidence from brain and behavioral investigations" at the Talks on Linguistics In honor of Neil Smith's retirement conference. Exercise Helps HIV+ Subjects

The Department of Biobehavioral Sciences played a major role in a new study that examined the effects of aerobic exercise on persons infected with HIV.
