Center for Educational and Psychological Services

The Program shares an in-house clinic with several other programs offering psychological and educational services. Clients are typically residents of the upper west side of Manhattan and represent a wide diversity of interests, strengths, problems, ethnicity, age, and socioeconomic status. All Clinical Psychology students are staff members in the Center after their first semester in the program, carrying a regular caseload of clients. The Center sponsors a weekly Case Conference, at which students present and discuss cases.
Clinical work is supervised by core faculty members (who oversee practica) and by adjunct faculty who are psychologists in private practice throughout New York. Supervision is one of the program's greatest strengths: students usually carry four patients as part of their psychotherapy practicum and receive supervision each week with two different supervisors. Most supervisors have had postdoctoral training in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy; some have had special training in supervision. Many of our supervisors are affiliated with either the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health or the William Alanson White Institute.

Graduate Student Journal of Psychology

The Graduate Student Journal of Psychology is a peer-reviewed publication devoted to clinical and counseling psychological research and practice; articles are written and reviewed by graduate students in psychology.
