SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND/OR GENDER & TECHNOLOGY

RESEARCH INTERN


 
Dr. Robin Stern invites interns to work with her on projects relating to Digital Technologies and Social-Emotional Learning as well as Gender and Technology.

As an intern, you will work in collaboration with Dr. Robin on research and writing in relation to the aforementioned subjects. The specific projects have the possibility of being tailored to your specific interests.

Regular activities will include gathering research materials, writing and editing of texts, and working with people relating to the projects. The activities performed by the intern may vary according to the intern. s experience as well as the needs for the period of the internship.

The internship can be taken for 2 credits (10 hours), and there is the possibility for continuation of work after the semester for pay. The hours are flexible and will be agreed upon between Robin and the intern.

Exciting opportunities to be involved in pioneer research about attention and its relationship to emotional abuse/psychological manipulation.
2 studies are going to be conducted:
One -- In conjunction with Dr. Amisha Jah from the Univ. of Pensyvania, begins next month.
Two --In conjunction with Dr Ken Perlin of NYU, begins next month.
Responsibilities will be determined by the interest and experience and availability of the student.

THE GOTTESMAN LIBRARIES

EDLAB

EdLab, a research, design, and development unit at the Gottesman Libraries, engages in work that contributes to the improvement of educational institutions.  Interns work alongside other EdLab staff on new and current projects, and participate in many of EdLab's innovative development  activities.  Possible areas of focus include:
 
PROFILE:
  • Producing video content about the future of education and educational research, including script writing, capturing, publishing, and advertising. 

  • Developing software applications with an emphasis on web-based applications. Maintaining and improving existing systems and software. Performing research, testing, and evaluation of potential new systems and software.

  • Working on existing print and web publications—for example the Teachers College Record—and proposing and developing new publishing projects collaboratively and with the guidance of an experienced publishing group.

  •  Supporting consulting projects. Addressing the challenges of managing structural change and facilitating organizational innovation in education. Creating high intensity planning events that unleash creativity and accelerate change.

  • Designing and planning educational exhibitions. Collaborating with the TC community to highlight aspects of educational research. Developing new projects to support scholarly communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate on projects, assisting others

  • Project management and development

  • Productive engagement of the open atelier environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in educational research and development, as well as an interest in emerging educational technologies

  • Strong skills in relevant software and technology

  • Ability to work independently

  • Energetic, creative, proactive, and responsible

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Applicant should be familiar with EdLab
