B.A. in Sociology, Emory University; M.A. in Counseling, New York University; Ed.M., Education Leadership, Teachers College, Columbia University. Joy has been the guidance counselor at Urban Assembly Media High School in Manhattan since its inception in 2004. In addition to her counseling responsibilities for grades 9-12, she is in charge of the programming, recruitment/admissions/transfers, and has various other administrative responsibilities. Joy also has her License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) and has spent four years in post-graduate training in Family and Couples Counseling at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. Upon her completion of the Summer Principals Academy Masters program at Teachers College, Columbia University, she will become the Director of Guidance and Pupil Personnel Services at Urban Assembly Media High School.
