B.A. in Elementary/ Moderate Special Needs Education and English, Boston College; M.A. in Curriculum and Teaching, Teachers College, Columbia University; Ed.M. in Education Leadership, Teachers College, Columbia University. Jansen started her career teaching third and fourth grades at a public school in Hewlett-Woodmere, on Long Island. She joined the faculty of The School at Columbia University as a fifth grade teacher. There she helped develop a new social studies curriculum focused on ancient civilizations, organized a large charity event for Locks of Love, and ran the school's Integrated Projects Week. Currently, she is the Director of External Programming and After School Programs.
