Javonne Stewart

B.A. in African American Studies with a minor in English Literature from University of Maryland, College Park; M.A. in African American and African Studies and M.A. in Political Science both from The Ohio State University. Javonne began her teaching career as a 2004 Teach for America corps member in Atlanta, Georgia teaching 6th and 7th grade social studies. For the past five years, Javonne has worked in various leadership capacities serving as a teacher representative on the Local School Council, a member of the school Design Team, and as Social Studies Department Chair. In addition, she has helped spearhead school-wide initiatives such as the Inman Middle School College Tour and various programs for underachieving and underserved African American boys. In the last year, Javonne worked at Dobbs Elementary School where she acts as Instructional Facilitator for English/Language Arts and Social Studies. She will continue to work in this capacity upon completion of the Summer Principal Academy.
