Max Turner

Max Turner is a 2011 SPA alum who graduated from the University of Southern California. Inspired by personal experiences with students in Los Angeles, he began teaching middle school English in rural southern Louisiana before transitioning into adult support and development. He has worked as a Program Director for Teach for America South Louisiana and later as a high school Master Teacher, a role in which he led the professional development and evaluation for an entire faculty. Most recently, Max has been working as a Reform Fellow at the Louisiana Department of Education. He has planned and executed an Executive Leadership Academy for emerging district leaders in Louisiana, and he has been an integral part of developing Louisiana’s new system for teacher and leader support and evaluation. Max’s work with school leaders in Louisiana reaffirmed his faith in the transformative power of strong leaders and he looks forward to working with SPA faculty and staff to identify and support future cohorts of leaders.
