B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Education and Public Policy from University of California at Berkeley; M.A. in Curriculum and Teaching Department: Literacy Specialist Program from Teachers College of Columbia University. Myra began her career in education in Berkeley, CA while serving as an AmeriCorps member. During this time, she helped to connect college students to local elementary schools to provide small group literacy instruction and become a part of helping to narrow the educational gap. Myra was also a 2004 Corp member of Teach for America in the Bronx where she taught 2nd grade and continues to serve the children in the community. Currently, Myra is a Literacy Coach at Marjorie H. Dunbar, P.S. 126 in Bronx, NY and aspires to become a positive agent of change through educational leadership to provide students with an education that will guide them in reaching their highest potential.
