B.A. in Broadcasting/Journalism from Texas State University. Monique began her career in education in San Marcos, TX where she taught Special Education and Regular Education for 3 years. She has been a classroom teacher for nine years, but engaged in educating youth for 12 years. Monique has been with KIPP Houston for the last five years. She was a founding teacher for KIPP Liberation College Preparatory and currently teaches for KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys in the most challenging urban districts in the state of Texas-North Forest. She is the Board Chairman for Crescendo Preparatory School of Music and Arts-a subsidiary of Worship At Large Ministries Incorporated in Houston, Texas. Her life's work is centered around the philosophy that every moment of instruction should be delivered to affect life altering change in the lives of the students. Constructive and judicious change that is so significant, it infiltrates the student’s home and community. So then her classroom becomes a greater opportunity to inspire any generation of learners. She aspires to grow beyond measure as she enters this new challenge at Columbia.
