Michelle Bennett is currently the Co-Director of the Los Angeles School Development Institute and is also an Instructor in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Master's Program at California State University, Northridge. She began her thirty-nine year career in education as a teacher and later as a Curriculum Specialist, Magnet Coordinator, Teacher Adviser, Assistant Principal and then the Principal in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Michelle served as the Principal of Westwood Charter Elementary School for twenty-one years. Under her leadership the school was awarded the title of California Distinguished School. After leaving the principalship, Michelle served as an Instructional Coordinator for all K-12 schools in the San Fernando Valley and then as a Director in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer. After retirement, Michelle served as an Interim Administrator of Instruction, Interim Director of School Services, and mentor to new principals.
