Terri Czarniak recently retired as a Fairfax County elementary school principal. She was principal of a diverse school for six years. During her tenure, she secured resources to take the school from limited technology to upgraded computers and SmartBoards in every classroom. She utilized school division resources and outside consultants to train all staff in best instructional practices. She opened a Parent Resource Center that provides workshops and informational sessions for families. Her professional experiences include teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels. She was a middle school and high school assistant principal and acting middle school principal. Prior to becoming a principal, she was the Coordinator of Recruitment for the Fairfax County Public Schools. In this role, she planned and organized the division-wide recruitment for all county positions with a focus on hiring teachers. She received her elementary education teaching degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in the Art of Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh and an endorsement in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia.
