Mr. Demetroulakos was a Newark, NJ educator for 40 years until his retirement in 2006. He earned his B.A. degree at NJ City University, M.A. at Kean University and his administrative certification from Seton Hall University. During his tenure in Newark, he held the positions of teacher, reading specialist, vice-principal, and principal. In the capacity of principal, he led Branch Brook School, (Newark, NJ) to National Recognition by earning certification as a National Blue Ribbon School (2005), presented by the Commissioner of the US Dept. of Education. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB)-Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private schools that are high performing and demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement over a documented period of five years. Branch Brook School was also awarded the coveted NJ Governors’ School of Excellence Award during the previous year (2004). Since his retirement, he has been involved as a NJ State certified mentor to newly appointed administrators as well as a member of the NJ State Abbott Schools Auditing Team.
