As an educator for 25+ years, Judy Ryan fully enjoyed her years as a teacher, assistant principal, central-office administrator, and seven years as an elementary school principal, prior to her retirement in 2011. During these years, as she worked with and for students in Virginia, Maine, Florida, and Hawaii, she collaborated with exceptional colleagues at the schools and within the school systems to implement a wide-range of academic, behavioral, and community–supported programs. She worked with students with many diverse abilities supporting their academics, as well as their social development. As an assistant principal, she assisted with the successful opening of a school with over 1,300 students, and as a principal, she implemented a wide-range of educational programs for over 750 Kindergarten through sixth grade students. Judy traveled throughout the United States with her husband and family while he served in the military and was fortunate to have completed her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs during this time. She is truly thankful for her educational experiences working with exceptional students, supportive families, highly-effective school teams, and involved communities. She hopes to bring her commitment and joy for supporting the professional growth of others to this important program for aspiring new administrators.
