B.S. in Management, Pennsylvania State University; M.S. in Secondary Education, St. John’s University. Sharleen is an 8th grade mathematics teacher at Walter H. Crowley School of Leadership in Elmhurst, Queens. Since becoming an educator there she has founded the Sister Circle Club. Sharleen has been a lifelong community activist and currently volunteers for Black New Yorkers for Educational Excellence; she is the co-founder of Sankofa Community Empowerment Inc. While an undergraduate student she rose to the rank of Vice President of the Penn State Black Caucus where she helped mobilize school administrators, community members and the student body to make critical systemic changes with regard to race relations at the university.
