B.A. in American Cultural Studies and Spanish, Bates College; M.S. Ed. in Elementary Education, CUNY’s College of Staten Island. During her years at Bates College, Arin founded an activist organization called Students Organized for Social Justice. Following her undergraduate work she moved to Boone, North Carolina where she continued advocating for social justice, spending four years as a legal assistant at Appalachian Community Law Center—a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to civil legal representation to low-income individuals. Arin relocated to New York in 2002 to become a New York City Teaching Fellow. Today she works in the same school in which she was placed working to achieve social equity for her students through education.
Arin is an 8th grade teacher of Humanities and English at Eastside Community High School.
