Event Details: Mandatory Employment Workshop

Mandatory Employment Workshop

Please see the schedule below for the upcoming F-1 Employment Workshop.  Attendance at an employment workshop is mandatory before we can approve you for off-campus employment.  It is not necessary to RSVP for these workshops.

Please note that each workshop will be broken into two parts:

Part 1: Overview at 3:00PM
The first hour will give an overview of the various kinds of on-campus and off-campus employment options available to international students in F-1 status, including eligibility and hourly restrictions and how to apply for each.  We will also go over a comparison of the two most common types of off-campus employment and reasons why you may apply for one versus the other.  This hour will be most beneficial to new and continuing students who are interested in working during their studies at TC.

Part 2: OPT at 4:00PM
The second hour will cover optional practical training (OPT) in detail, including how and when to apply and how to maintain your status while on post-completion OPT.  This presentation will be most beneficial to students graduating this semester and planning to apply for optional practical training following their studies.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to contact OASID at , (212) 678-3689, (212) 678-3853 TTY, (212) 678-3854 video phone, as early as possible to request reasonable accommodations, such as ASL interpreters, alternate format materials, and a campus map of accessible features.
