Application Requirements

1. Essays:

Each applicant must submit two essays. Please choose one essay question from group A and one from group B. State the essay questions and provide each essay separately. Use your best judgment in determining the appropriate length of the essays. Use the essays to display your writing skills and tell us more about yourself. Organize a compelling argument to demonstrate your ability to tackle the challenges before you.  When answering each question, be sure to emphasize those experiences, values and goals that are most important and meaningful to you.  When appropriate, you should include the particular experiences and expertise that you will bring to the program. Be sincere and be specific.

Group A Essay Questions (no more than 800 words)

*  Describe an interest or experience that has a significant meaning for you.
*  Do you have a distinguishable attribute, quality, or skill? How was it developed?
*  Have you experienced a moment of epiphany, as if your eyes were opened to something you were  previously blind to? Describe this moment in detail.
*  Have you ever struggled for something and failed? How did you respond?

Group B Essay Questions (no more than 400 words)

*  Where do you see yourself, career wise, 10 years from now?
*  Choose a prominent person (living, deceased, or fictional) that you would like to interview and explain why.
*  What contributions can you make to our program and why?

2. TOEFL Score:

Pre-College Prog Teachers College study phase requires demonstrated English proficiency. Please submit a copy of your official TOEFL score report from the ETS to the PCP Admission Committee.

3. Recommendations

We require two recommendations that address the questions asked on our recommendation form. Additional recommendations may be submitted, but should offer additional and valuable insight.

4. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Please prepare a CV that includes your academic history in reverse chronological order, with the schools you attended; honors and awards received;  research or field projects conducted; any part-time or full-time employment; and your interests and hobbies. The CV should not exceed one page in length.

6. Interview

An evaluative interview will be conducted after your application has been submitted and reviewed by the Admissions Committee. This interview will take place in person or by video conference. The interview plays a critical role in our assessment of an applicant and is required prior to acceptance into the program. The interview takes between 20-30 minutes.

Application Deadline and Timeline

Items 1 to 5: The first Friday of March

Interview: Mid March

Decision: The last week of March

“Your Last Name -Application for PCP”.
