Faculty and staff
are entitled to two email accounts at Teachers College. First,
the Exchange server is used primarily for internal College
correspondence, College mailing distribution lists, and as the default
mail address for most staff and faculty. Additionally, all Teachers
College faculty and staff are eligible for Cunix computer accounts,
which provide e-mail and access to the Internet. You may also create
your own World
Wide Web home page.
E-mail
You can create
an exchange account by calling the CIS HelpDesk at (212) 678 - 3300
to set up an account. You can activate your cunix email account
from the 242 Horace Mann or 345 Macy computer
labs on campus. Visit the Computer Lab closest to you and connect
to Columbia's
Email web page to create or activate a new account. You will
then be assigned a userid, which is your initials followed by a
number (e.g. gs56). This userid followed by "@columbia.edu then
becomes your email address (e.g. gs56@columbia.edu). You
can also dial in from off-campus using your own Macintosh or PC-compatible
computer with a modem and phone line or DSL/Cable line. In the event
that the process fails, call the Academic Computing office at x3302.
TC faculty and
staff are eligible for free basic accounts, which provide the following:
* Prime-time connect time: 1 hour/day
* Non-prime-time connect time: 2 hours/day
* Weekend connect time: 3 hours/day
* Disk storage: 20 MB
* Access to all computer clusters, electronic classrooms when not
in use, and the large lab in 215 International Affairs
* Access to AcIS Dial-Up Network Service
