Residence Halls

If you are staying at Whittier or at the New Residence Halls you will be using: ResNet

If you are staying at Bancroft, Greystone, Grant, & Sarasota you will be using: Time Warner Network Service

ResNet connection:
If you are living in Whittier Hall or in the New Residence Halls and your computer meets minimum requirement guidelines, you can have direct Internet access, which provides a much faster connection than using a modem.

(See our CIS webpage at http://tc-web.tc.columbia.edu/~cis/resnet. You will need to purchase a network card and a patch cord to use this direct connection. Contact the Horace Mann Student Computing Support Center at 242 Horace Mann (ext 3304) for more information.

Computer Cable Network Connection Service for Bancroft, Grant & Sarasota Halls:
Residents of Bancroft, Grant & Sarasota Halls can now gain Internet access through the Time Warner Cable Computer Network Service. You need a personal computer (PC or Mac) that meets the recommended minimum requirement guidelines with a Network Interface Card (NIC) and Time Warner will supply the Box and the Cable Modem. For $36 a month you will be able to connect to the Internet at high-speed many times faster than using a modem. Any resident who is interested in obtaining the service can call the TC Telecommunications Office at x3456 or Time Warner Cable (Help) at (718) 888-3900.
