Event Details: Dealing with Feeling Academic and Administrative Helplessness - Meeting with the Ombuds

Description:

Dealing with Feeling Academic and Administrative Helplessness

A Workshop for Teachers College Students
Facilitator:  Erwin Flaxman, TC Ombuds

Date:          Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Place:         Library, 305 Russell Hall

Times:        4 PM –5 PM

7 PM -8 PM  (Workshop Repeated)

Too often, students feel helpless when they face academic or administrative problems during their time at Teachers College.

This experience-based and interactive workshop is being conducted to provide help in dealing with problems that interfere with a productive student experience.  In the workshop students can expect:

·       To discuss strategies and develop skills to solve common and individual problems.

·       To learn how to identify available sources of assistance.

·       To feel confident in their ability to succeed.

The discussion will be based on actual student experiences.

The afternoon and evening workshops will be identical.  Students can attend one or both workshops. All are welcome.  Please RSVP to Erwin Flaxman, Ombuds, ef29@tc.columbia.edu if you plan to attend, with your name and the time of the workshop. You can attend even if you have not responded.
