Important Information about the M60 BUS Service!

 Introducing +selectbusservice on the M60

The M60 becomes the M60 SBS on May 25, 2014. Select bus service brings a new level of convenience, reliability and speed to this bus route at no additional cost to you. Your trip along 125 St to Queens and LaGuardia Airport just got 15-20% faster!

For questions visit http://web.mta.info/mta/planning/sbs/lga_analysis.html or call 511.

How does the Select Bus Service (SBS) change and improve my ride?

·      Fewer bus stops means quicker trips

·      Dedicated bus lanes along 125 St speed service between stops

·      Increased enforcement against traffic offenders allows buses to keep moving

·      By paying BEFORE boarding, you can board the bus using any of the 3 doors.

All these elements make your trip up to 15-20% faster.

Are the new bus stop signs, bus shelters and fare machines part of this new service?

Yes. New bus stop signs, bus shelters and fare machines clearly mark Select Bus Service stops. You pay your fare with MetroCard or coins at the bus stop BEFORE you board the bus, and get a paper ticket, which you must keep on your trip and present upon request. You must board at the stop where you paid your fare, and complete your Select Bus Service trip within one hour.

Can I use my M60 ticket as proof of payment or as a transfer to ride on any other bus route?

Your ticket is valid only for the M60 SBS. Keep your ticket for your entire trip. If SBS is not operating, please present your SBS ticket to the operator of the local bus.

Are bus stops changing?

Yes. There are nine (9) fewer bus stops in each direction on the new M60 SBS route. The M60 SBS stops at every LaGuardia Airport terminal. See the list of stops in this brochure.

To access eliminated stops:

·      on Broadway, use the M4 OR M104;

·      on 125 St, use the B15, M100, or M101;

·      on Astoria Blvd, use the Q109.

Can I pay on the bus if I want to?

No. You MUST pay before boarding the bus.

How do the fare collection machines work?

Both the MetroCard and Coin machines accept fares and issue tickets. You must keep your ticket for your entire trip. Neither machine sells nor refills MetroCard, and they do not make change.

Do I give my ticket to the bus operator?

No. You don’t give or show your ticket to the driver UNLESS you paid with coins and need a transfer. Please board at the front door of the bus if you need a transfer. Keep your ticket for the duration of the trip.

How do Transit personnel know that I paid my fare?

You must keep your ticket for the duration of your trip. Fare inspectors randomly check them. Anyone who cannot produce a valid ticket could be subject to a $100 summons.

Can I pay with a Uni-Ticket at the 125th St Metro-North Station?

Yes. Just board the bus as your Uni-Ticket serves as your SBS ticket. Just show it to a fare inspector upon request.

What if I can’t obtain a ticket or have some other problem?

Write down the fare machine number; it is located on the front of each machine. If a machine is not working, please board the bus and tell the bus operator. If the machine does not issue a ticket or return your MetroCard or coins, use MetroCard eFIX to file a claim online at mta.info or call 511.

Two Ways to Pay Before you Board

MetorCard Fare Collector

Pay here with:

MetroCard (value or time), reduced fare MetroCard, transfers, single-ride tickets, and student MetroCard (but not Half-Fare Student MetroCard).

1.     Press the start button.

2.     Insert your MetroCard, transfer or ticket face up in to the slot.

3.     Your SBS paper ticket will be issued automatically.

Paying for more than one person: Only a value-based MetroCard can be used to pay the fare for more than one person. Insert the MetroCard into the machine up to four times for a maximum of four people, and SBS paper tickets will be issued for each person.

Transferring to the M15 SBS:

You must obtain a new ticket before you board. At the M12 SBS bus stop, insert the same MetroCard you used to pay for your previous trip and a new ticket will be issued.   Multiple tickets will be issued if a value-based MetroCard was used to pay for more than one person.

Coin Fare Collector:

Pay her with coins, exact change ONLY

No dollar bills, pennies, or half-dollars accepted.

Full-Fare Customers:

1.     Press black button to start.

2.     Insert exactly $2.50 in coins; if you overpay, no change will be returned.

3.     Your SBS paper ticket will be issued automatically.

Reduced-Fare Customers and Half-Fare Students

MetroCard users:

1.     Press yellow button first.

2.     Insert exactly $1.25 in coins; if you overpay, no change will be returned.

3.     Your ticket will be issued automatically.

To CANCEL the transaction, turn the red know BEFORE you finish depositing your last coin.

Transfers: Board at the front of the bus and request a transfer from the bus operator. Use your transfer for other local and limited routes, but to transfer to the M15 SBS insert your M60 SBS transfer into the MetroCard Care Collector at the M15 SBS bus stop where you plan to board; a ticket will be issued automatically.

Note: The maximum number of coins accepted for one fare is 25.
