If you are awarded a scholarship or federal student aid, you will receive an official award letter notification from the Office of Financial Aid. Please keep in mind that you will receive two separate award letters, as the program goes over two academic years.
If you are eligible for federal financial aid and you have satisfied your requirements, the funds you have accepted will be applied to your account as payment(s). That being said, in the Summer 1 term, you may receive a refund, which you will need to save to assist you with the payments for the subsequent semesters.
The INSTEP program is a summer intensive program. Most students only attend for summer sessions for two to three consecutive summers, however, they may also attend for the Fall and Spring terms in between. Students who need financial aid in terms other than Summer must contact the INSTEP liaison (Jannatul Ferdous-Hypolite at email@example.com) at the Office of Financial Aid to ensure that their aid is set up appropriately.
Summer is the last term of each academic year (e.g. Fall 2017 is the first term of the 2017-2018 aid year, Spring 2018 is the second, and Summer 2018 is the final), so the appropriate FAFSAs must be completed. Students beginning the INSTEP program during Summer 2017 must complete the 2016-2017 FAFSA and the 2017-2018 FAFSA using TC's school code (G03979). Note that students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours (or the equivalent) per term to be eligible for federal aid of any kind. Please be aware that the 2016-2017 FAFSA will not be available after June 30, 2017.
Students must also complete the TC Scholarship Application to be eligible for any institutional aid, including the INSTEP scholarship as detailed below. It is a part of the admissions application. Note: Institutional scholarships typically pay only towards tuition (not fees) charges.
The tuition rate changes each academic year. Please refer to our Cost of Attendance page for more information on rates and fees.
INSTEP Scholarship (These awards should be reflected in your award letter by mid-June):
1st year students receive 4 points in INSTEP scholarship.
2nd year students receive 2 points in INSTEP scholarship.
Students in the Spirituality Mind Body Summer Intensive Program will have a structured schedule that will apply to the entirety of their program. Please click here to view the schedule.
For those beginning in the Summer 2017 term, you will begin coursework during the 2016-2017 academic year, continue into the 2017-2018 academic year, and complete your last semester in the 2018-2019 academic year. A respective FAFSA must be done for all aid years in which you wish to receive federal aid. Please ensure that you use the Teachers College federal school code (G03979) on the FAFSA. If you are an international student, please click here to learn about your aid options.
Students with questions regarding scholarship funding for this program are encouraged to reach out to the Clinical and Counseling Psychology liaison, Hazel Amadias, by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
