The Council’s work will be supplemented through the help of volunteers (Affiliate members) who may attend meetings as non-voting members and participate in standing committee work upon approval of the Executive Committee.
Any alumnus/a interested in the Alumni Council may attend a meeting as a non-voting “visitor”. Any Council member can invite a “visitor” to attend. If a “visitor” plans to attend a meeting, he or she should notify either Alumni Relations or the president in advance, so all “visitors” may be properly introduced.
Following a first visit, the president will follow-up with each “visitor” to outline the role and commitments and assess which committee might be a fit, with the help of the committee chairs. Upon agreement on all parties, the interested alumnus/a will become an Affiliate Member who contributes additional resources to a committees’ work. Affiliate members may not serve on the Nominating or Awards and Recognition committees.
The Executive Committee determines the expectations and level of commitment for Affiliate members and annually reviews the participation as evaluated by the committee co-chairs.
