Patrick J. Norton, the new associate controller, who has more than ten years of experience in not-for-profit, higher education, and fund accounting management, is joining TC as of May 11, 1998.

Norton, a Certified Public Accountant, has a strong background in financial reporting and audits of nonprofit organizations. He says that he "understands fully the need for timely and accurate financial reporting to support the College's mission."

He adds that, "I am very excited about the opportunity to be a member of the Teachers College community. There are great challenges and great opportunities."

Norton says that while it is important for financial reporting to be timely and accurate, it is just as important that the information be effectively communicated to the users of the information in a manner that they can understand. "I have extensive and continued experience communicating financial information and I want to focus my efforts on providing customer service."

Norton was the Manager of Financial Systems and Manager of General Accounting at New York University Medical Center and formerly the Controller of Planned Parenthood of New York City, Inc.

He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He has just been asked to serve on the Not-for-Profit Committee of the New York City Society of Certified Public Accountants.
