New Controller Fulfills a Dream: Sharon Hewitt-Watkins

Sharon Hewitt-Watkins, former Senior Manager at KPMP Peat Marwick, LLP, and soon to be TC Controller (she will begin working on June 1), had her secret dream come true--sort of.

Sharon Hewitt-Watkins, former Senior Manager at KPMP Peat Marwick, LLP, and soon to be TC Controller (she will begin working on June 1), had her secret dream come true--sort of.

As a young girl, Hewitt-Watkins says, "I wanted to be a teacher, and I still have that dream at heart."

Now that she is the new Controller, Hewitt-Watkins adds, "it makes me feel, somehow, that I am fulfilling part of my dream. Just understanding the mission of the College makes me feel that I'm at home."

Hewitt-Watkins, who provided audit and consulting services for institutions of higher education and other nonprofits, is very familiar with TC.

She has conducted the College's audits for the last five years and has, during that time, come to know it as "a great institution of learning." Hewitt-Watkins recalls the time she spent on the audits and is impressed with the changes over the years.

"I've seen the College through times when the financial reporting and the processes of fiscal accountability were questioned and now the College community has regained confidence in that function. And I want to be part of it."

Hewitt-Watkins holds a B.S. in Accounting from New York University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
