Opportunities
Internships
Students in the Program participate in New York area, domestic, and international internships. Internships average 20 hours per week over a period of at least four months. A student may elect to take more than one internship. Internships are both paid and unpaid, and students in the program have consistently won competitive internships and awards, including the prestigious J.P. Morgan internships and the Morse Fellowship at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. The Internship Coordinator spends 20 hours a week advising students on internships and helping to secure the best opportunities for them. An initial survey and meeting help the student and Coordinator focus on appropriate areas of interest including the type of internship, the number of internships, and particular disciplines or skill-specific areas-marketing, development, education, etc. The Internship Office also acts as a job and intern reference library with the latest recruitment material on file for current students and alumni. Contracts, evaluations by both students and host institutions, explanatory internship manuals and brochures are regular occurrences. Students also receive additional referrals from alumni and personal referrals from faculty who are working at very high levels in the field.
