Event Details: Neuroscience Lecture Series: “Goal directed memory through cortical intention/recollection cycles”

Description:

Matthew Shapiro, PhD

"Goal directed memory through cortical intention/recollection cycles"

Professor of Neuroscience, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience of Memory Laboratory investigates how neural circuits processing is altered so that information is encoded, stored, and then later retrieved in appropriate circumstances. Dr. Shapiro’s lab samples neuronal activity from specific parts of the brain that are needed to perform a particular cognitive function, and attempt to decode the signal to understand how these systems use the neural networks to represent the information in memory and guide behavior
