Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University.  The faculty and staff of the Department welcome your interest in our programs, and we hope that you will find our web site to be helpful and informative.

The Department of Curriculum and Teaching has a long and rich history.  We were founded in 1938, the first department of our kind ever created.  In the more than seven decades that have elapsed since then, faculty of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching have been leaders in scholarship and practice in the fields of curriculum, teacher education, early childhood education, early childhood special education, gifted education, and literacy, areas in which we continue to excel to this day.
