Magalie Alexis

Magalie Alexis is a graduate of the Bank Street Educational Leadership Program and has been principal of Park Slope Elementary/Middle School 282 since 2003. She encourages the school's adult community of parents and staff to consider themselves a family working together for the benefit of the students.The school provides a rigorous academic curriculum as well as one rich in the arts. The school has initiated partnerships with Music and the Brain (K-2nd grade keyboard program), Marquis Studios, The Academy Program ( a multi-grade instrumental program provided through Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and The Weill Institute of Music), LEAP and Ballroom Dancing to name a few. Understanding that knowledge of and experiences in the world outside the classrooms are imperative for students in the21st century, she has provided opportunities for students to take a variety of field trips and to travel both nationally (Virginia ,Washington, D.C. Georgia, Vermont, Tennessee) and internationally(England and Canada). In May, 2010, Ms. Alexis completed the Future Superintendent Academy Program sponsored by The New York State Council of Superintendents.
