Learning Analytics with IBM

IBM is a leader in metrics and uses learning analytics to gauge learning effectiveness, drive learning recommendations, and aid in decision making. Join TC alumnus (and adjunct faculty member) Nabeel Ahmad (EdD '09)
and current student Michael Ticknor as they demonstrate IBM's learning analytics system.
Learn how they collect various metrics to help analyze, measure, and report data about improving learning and the context it takes place in. You will leave with the knowledge to implement learning analytics in your environment.

Nabeel Ahmad has a background in business, technology, and education. He is a learning developer for IBM Learning, where he leads IBM Learning's internal mobile learning strategy and is the lead technologist for IBM's Sales Learning programs. He also teaches at Teachers College, Columbia University on mobile phone learning and social media for learning.
Michael Ticknor is a learning technologist for IBM Learning. With 18 years of experience, he leads the design and development of a number of learning applications and innovations, including the Informal Learning Exchange, the Learning Demand Dashboard, Learning Card widgets, and the Business Unit Insights Learning Dashboard (BUILD), which lets stakeholders quickly gather information based on fact rather than gut feeling or personal opinion.
Michael joined IBM in 1999 and has worked for the Center for Advanced Learning since 2008. He is currently finishing a Masters of Education at Teachers College, and holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky.
