In 1996 the United Nations General Assembly invited UN Member States to observe the International Day for Tolerance on 16 November, with activities directed towards both educational establishments and the wider public. A global observance, it "aims to educate people about the need for tolerance in society and to help them understand the negative effects of intolerance."
News will feature articles about the International Day for Tolerance, drawing upon examples of tolerance in our society, as well as respect, dialogue, and cooperation among different cultures, civilizations, and peoples.
Individuals with disabilities are invited to request reasonable accommodations including, but not limited to sign language interpretation, Braille or large print materials, and a campus map of accessible features. Address these requests to the Office of Access and Services for Individuals with Disabilities at (212) 678-3689, email@example.com, or Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at (212) 678-3853 V/TTY.
