What Is An African? An Oxford-Style Debate will allow panelists to debate on both sides of the question that fuels the Series. Panelists will make arguments concerning a rigid definition of what African identity is, followed by an equally well-constructed argument advocating for a multifaceted understanding of what African identity encompasses. Panelists will include scholars from the fields of Anthropology, Sociology, History, and other fields. Guest Panelists: Edward Ramsamy, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Geography at Rutgers University. Pamela Newkirk, Professor of Journalism at New York University and author of Within the Veil: Black Journalists, White Media
