Human Development: Developing Skills of Argument and Debate

The new Common Core standards specify that middle school students be able to introduce, support and defend arguments, both orally and in writing. But the standards don't specify how to achieve these demanding goals.

In this Teachers College, Columbia University workshop, participants observe what works and how in developing the foundational skills of argument that meet the new standards as well as prepare students for more formal forms of debate.
