News Display: Female Cadets Enrolled at West Point

On July 7, 1976 the first female cadets enrolled at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. Four years later, 62 of the 119 women graduated and became second lieutenants. They were held to the same rigorous standards as the men cadets, though they experienced unique challenges.

Our new display will highlight the controversy of enrolling women in the Academy and stories about the first women at West Point.

The Everett Cafe features educational news displays on a wide range of topics, in addition to daily postings of headlines from around the world.

By the way, news posters make great classroom resources or dorm decorations! Please see the ledge to the right of the First Floor Library Services Desk, and help yourself!
