Susan H. Fuhrman , President of Teachers College, Columbia University will moderate a panel discussion of five white papers that detail the Campaign for Educational Equity's ambitious plan for systemic educational reform with the goal of explaining how comprehensive educational opportunity is affordable and achievable. the legal, financial, and social policy ramifications of this effort will be presented and debated.
Presenters include Michael Rebell , Executive Director of the Campaign for Educational Equity; John B. King, Jr., TC alum, New York State Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York; Mary Anne Schmitt-Carey, President of Say Yes to Education; David Wakelyn, Deputy Secretary of Education for Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers.
The Campaign for Educational Equity at TC has been researching this issue and working with a task force of scholars, practitioners, advocates and policy makers to deal with the question of whether and how comprehensive educational opportunity can be provided to all students from poverty backgrounds.
