DESCRIPTION:February 17, 2014 "Challenging the Advanced Student" Professor Dan Teague North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Abstract: Dan Teague is an Instructor of Mathematics at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM), where he has taught since 1982. He has completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at North Carolina State University under the direction of Lee Stiff. In the past 5 years, Dan has introduced courses in Complex Systems and Dynamics of Modern Networks to students at NCSSM. He has expanded the schools research program in mathematics (in the past 4 years he has been the advisor to two Siemens Regional Finalists) and has organized a small consortium of high school teachers who work together to support research projects for their students. This Colloquium session will be held in179 Grace Dodge Hall, beginning with a light informal supper and discussion at6:30 PM, and the colloquium lecture from7:30PM to 9:00PM.Program in Mathematics, Teachers College,Columbia University
