Honoring the Memory of a Loved One

In December of 2013, sisters Lisa, Karen and Naomi Goldberg wanted to do something special to honor the memory of their mother and TC alumna Bernice H. Goldberg (Ed.D.'77), who had passed away in 2010. Lisa and her sisters chose to make a gift of $2,500 to the TC Fund, directed to financial aid, to take advantage of a matching offer from our TC Trustees to underwrite an annual fund scholarship for a student in need.

"We were very close to our mother," said Lisa. "She often talked about her deep love for TC and how much her experience there prepared her for a lifelong career as a teacher, professor and mentor. Her experiences in doing original research at TC guided her lifelong interest in gifted and talented education. Honoring our mother's memory and legacy as a TC alumna through the sponsorship of a Bernice H. Goldberg Annual Fund Scholar each year is a true pleasure.”

After receiving her Ed.D at Teachers College, Bernice H. Goldberg developed a career consulting on gifted and talented programs for various school districts, serving as a mentor for many NJ educators and administrators. She taught early childhood education as an adjunct faculty member at Touro College for many years and especially enjoyed mentoring education students.
