Design thinking

This experiential 1-day workshop will explore the application of design thinking – used to design everything from products to communities and made popular by firms like IDEO and Continuum (and architects like Gehry) to tackle organizational changes. As Einstein said, the same thinking that got us here won’t solve our problems; so we need to think and act differently to develop more exciting and workable solutions to our current challenges.

What do the swiffer™ and Frank Gehry’s Bilbao museum for modern art building have in common?  Design thinking. 
Who doesn’t need more innovative thinking?  Who wouldn’t want more of their creative ideas to be put to work? 

This fun and engaging workshop, led by one of the world’s leading authorities on organizational change and organizational design, promises to provide the stimulus you need to take a fresh look at your challenges, invent new solutions, and succeed at putting even you most creative ideas to work.

SESSION TOPICS will include:
•    What is design thinking and how does it differ from normal business thinking?

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

•    Introduce the steps and processes associated with the successful application of design thinking to organizational and business challenges

William Pasmore, Ph.D.

Author/editor of 25 books, international consultant, featured speaker, Professor at
Teachers College, Columbia University, and SVP, Center for Creative Leadership.

Professor Pasmore is a Visiting Professor of Organization & Leadership, Teachers College, Columbia University and Senior Vice President of the Center for Creative Leadership. He is the Editor of the Journal of Applied Behavioral Sciences. He is the author/editor of 25 books and numerous scholarly publications.  He was a tenured full professor of Organizational Behavior at Case Western Reserve University from 1976-1997, where he taught courses in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in organizational behavior and organization development, and directed the Master’s degree program in Organization Development and Analysis. In 1997, he joined Delta Consulting in New York City, which became part of the Marsh McLennan/Oliver Wyman Corporation.  There, he was a member of the executive team and director of global research.  He consulted to Fortune 500 and global clients on issues of CEO succession, organization design, human resource effectiveness, and change.  He joined the Center for Creative Leadership in 2008 to lead a global practice that helps companies combine leadership development with organization development in order to enhance the impact and return on investment in leadership education.  He is a frequent invited speaker at global conferences and corporate events. Professor Pasmore received his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Management and Administrative Sciences from Purdue University.

This workshop is intended for those interested in achieving more creative breakthroughs for addressing organizational challenges or seizing opportunities.  While people in marketing and R&D will find this workshop useful, so will those responsible for designing new organizational processes, improving customer focus, developing and implementing new policies, figuring out how to go global and a host of other applications.  If you have a challenge that has been difficult to solve, learning this new approach will be of value to you.
