Former Judge of the New York Court of Appeals
Now engaging in domestic and international arbitrations and mediations, Judge Albert Rosenblatt joined the law firm of McCabe & Mack LLP as counsel in 2007 after serving on New York’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, for seven years. Before that, he was a Justice of the Supreme Court, Appellate Division (1989-1998) and a Justice of the State Supreme Court (1981-1987).
As New York State’s Chief Administrative Judge (1987-1989), Judge Rosenblatt was responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of New York State’s Court System. He also served as Dutchess County Judge (1975-1981) after two terms as Dutchess County District Attorney (1969-1975). He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School.
He and his wife, Julia, a former Vassar College professor, reside in LaGrange. He is a squash player and an associate certified ski instructor. He is also a member of the Baker Street Irregulars (a Sherlock Holmes Society). His wife, Julia, writes a weekly ski column for the Poughkeepsie Journal. They have just co- authored a book entitled “Historic Courthouses of New York State” (Turner Publishing Company 2007). Their daughter, Betsy, practices law in California.
