Pat Todd is the Executive Director for Student Assignment, Health, Safety, and the Gheens Professional Development Academy for the Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky. She is responsible for administering and implementing the district’s student assignment plan, which provides processes and strategies for maintaining diversity in the district’s schools. She currently leads the district team that is revising the student assignment plan as a result of the recent Seattle/Louisville Supreme Court decision.
A staff member of the Jefferson County Public Schools since 1970, Ms. Todd experienced the desegregation court order and mandatory busing plan that was implemented in 1975. In 1991, she was part of the team that significantly redesigned the elementary component of the 1975 plan, and in 1996, she led a review of the entire student assignment plan which resulted in the version recently challenged before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Ms. Todd’s other responsibilities for the school district include supervising the development of curriculum; oversight for planning and implementation of teacher professional development; and monitoring student attendance, truancy, and suspensions for the purpose of providing appropriate interventions and support for student success.
