Project to Understand Reactions to Loss

Our NIMH research on bereavement attempts to understand the different patterns of outcomes people experience in response to loss.

Research Study

What are the advantages of participating in this study?

We offer a modest financial benefit. Participants are paid $100.00 for each phase of the study. In addition, participants leave our study with the knowledge that they have shared their experiences with trained researchers who are working to learn more about the grieving process. In this way, participants will know that they have contributed to our knowledge about how people grieve, and hopefully to the development of new interventions that can help alleviate the suffering of others who have experienced a loss.

When a bereaved person expresses interest in participating in our study, we provide a formal consent document that describes any potential risks and benefits in greater detail
