Charlene Reid started her career in education 13 years ago as a teacher leader in South Central Los Angeles and Harlem. Charlene has been the Principal and Head of School for Bronx Charter School for Excellence (BCSE) for 5 years. In the past 5 years, BCSE has been ranked as a high-performing charter school in New York City and New York State. Charlene and her staff believe that high levels of student achievement can be sustained through building a common vision with staff members, by providing instructional resources and materials to support the teaching staff to meet accountability goals, fostering collegiality and collaboration, and by establishing a professional development program,utilizing data-driven analysis as a mechanism for teaching and learning. Charlene earned a B.A. in Political Science and an Ed.M. in Elementary Education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.
